Department of Mass Communication Presents Maiden Debate In CrownHill University

The department of mass communication on Tuesday organised the first debate in the school themed ” Gender Equality: A cathalyst for Nigerian Development”.

The debate which was held at the University’s auditorium, and had speakers from various levels of the department, lasted for about an hour.

The speakers Includes; Adamu Gloria (400l), Balogun Folushola(300l), Adeyeye Hawa(300l), Afolayan Tobiloba( 200l), Fowomola Gbolahan (200l), Akpan Solomon (200l), Imeh Precious (200l) and Ayodele Toluwalase(100l)

One of the speakers, Gloria, who spoke against the motion, noted that “Being a woman, is more important than being a feminist”

However, Folushola who supported the motion opined that a woman shouldnt be restricted, but should be allowed to lead as at when due.

She went on to mention woman who have made a name in history such as Margeret T, Mother Theresa and Funmilayo Kuti.

Speaking at the event, the Vice Chancellor, Prof. Deboye Kolawole who expressed joy that the department took the initiative, called on other departments to follow suit.

He further praised the debaters for putting in sincere efforts, and doing a good job.

Also present at the debate were other members of the management including the University’s Bursar, Mr Temitope Ajani, and the Public Relations Officer, Mr Gbenga Okeowo.
